When no one can provide a definition "to his satisfaction", that generally means the guy's pushing an alternative agenda. AFAIK a table is a "data structure". Considering Codd's initial RM was based on "array" data structures (yes, those "arrays"), it doesn't stretch the imagination to define tables as extensions to the idea of "arrays". AFAIK that's pretty basic CS 101. Maybe this speaker got his CS degree at the wrong school?

Much, much simpler. Or better yet, pick a group of people to be the impartial judges (meaning they can't have an entry) and let them duke it out, feasting on the efforts of their labor. ;)

Attending the PASS Summit
Steve Jones makes some good points in his blog post Training. Unfortunately, perception for some folks becomes their reality. You're never going to with some of the folks. They are always going to grumble and complain. I don't think you get away from that.

As for content, I've noted that you have had other products up for review. That was one of my first concerns... how do other vendors get noticed? I don't think that's been too much of an issue over the long haul, but then again, that's my perception of things. Better to ask the Apex SQLs of the world. They can give you a better idea of impact since the purchase.

As to running a how to, if you've asked other vendors for similar content, hopefully they step up and do so. Even if an article is on a particular vendor's product, chances are there is something of use to the general populace. So I tend to look at those kinds of articles, even if I don't own the product(s) covered. Then again, I may see something that makes me go, "I can really use that."

Steve Jones on TechEd2007 and SQL2K8 Manageability Features

@ TechEd 2007 I presented an overview session on new manageability features in SQL Server 2008.
